Treatment Diaries: Skin Confidence & What It’s Like To Start A Skin Journey For Acne
An honest look into acne, skin confidence, and long-term results
This month, we had the pleasure of sitting down with our Skindepth client, Zoe, to talk all things skin. She generously shared her experience of navigating acne, regaining confidence, and what it’s really like to embark on a skin journey in clinic.
Acne isn’t just skin deep- it can affect your self-esteem, your routines, and how you show up in the world. At Skindepth, we understand the emotional and physical impact persistent acne can have. That’s why our experienced Dermal Clinician, Chantel, works closely with each client to create tailored, long-term treatment plans that go beyond quick fixes- focusing on real skin health, for life.
Zoe’s story is one many of our clients can relate to: struggling with breakouts, feeling overwhelmed by product overload, and unsure of what would actually work. Through consistency, professional guidance, and the right combination of clinical treatments and home care, her skin has transformed- along with her confidence. If you’ve ever felt lost in your skincare journey or unsure of where to start, Zoe’s story is worth the read. It’s a good reminder that results don’t happen overnight- but they do happen with the right support.
Can you share a little about your skin journey and what led you to seek treatment at our clinic?
“I've had issues with my skin ever since I can remember. Nothing has helped except for taking Accutane. It calmed my skin for a while but I didn't want it to be a long-term solution. I wanted to try a different approach whilst also learning how to better look after my skin health in the long run - so here I am!”
What were the main concerns you were experiencing with your skin before starting your treatment plan?
“The main concern was the constant angry breakouts and acne.”
How was your acne affecting your day-to-day life or confidence?
“Initially I didn't think that it had affected my day-to-day life that much but, looking back, I've avoided doing a lot of things outside or around people. Staying home was easier than accepting the fact that some pimples had had that much of an effect on my confidence.”
How have you found the in-clinic experience and working with your dermal clinician?
“It's been easy and Chantel has made it a relaxing experience every time- which I think is one of the most important parts especially when acne and the constant breakouts are a cause of stress and frustration themselves.”
What’s your favourite part of the routine or treatment plan so far?
“The simplicity - only 2-3 steps and products in the morning and evening. It doesn't take long and makes it easy to follow.”
What would you say to someone who’s just starting their acne treatment journey?
“I always have to remind myself that healing isn't always linear and healing your skin isn't any different. There are going to be good skin days and not-so-good skin days. The most important part is being consistent and patient despite feeling demoralised by the not-so-good days - which is the hardest part.”
Calm. Glowing. Confident.
Treatment plan in the below before & after:
2x Dermaceutic Acne Milk Peels, extractions & 2x LED Healite Sessions. During Zoe’s next appointment we will be addressing post-inflammatory erythema (acne scarring) with Vascular Laser & our new Q-Switched Laser to help even out skin tone.
An inside look at Zoe’s skin journey, through the eyes of our Dermal Clinician, Chantel.
Over the past few months, our resident Dermal Clinician, Chantel, has been guiding Zoe through a personalised skin journey in clinic. As Zoe’s skin has continued to respond beautifully to treatment, we asked Chantel to share a few professional insights that reflect her progress- and what’s contributed to her transformation.
“Zoe now has a much clearer understanding of how to care for her skin based on her individual skin type and specific concerns, Throughout this process, she’s developed a deeper knowledge of skin health- especially the importance of protecting her skin barrier and avoiding habits like over-exfoliation. She's become more confident in managing her skin properly, both in and out of the clinic.”
“One of the key elements of Zoe’s progress has been following a recommended skincare routine, tailored to her unique skin needs. This daily routine has offered her a clear, step-by-step path to follow, helping her stay consistent and focused on long-term skin health. Having a targeted routine has been essential to not only improving her skin but also maintaining results between treatments.”
